Why Timber For Floors?

Timber Floor Sydney

Timber floors have stayed a popular choice for centuries. Other types of floor have come and gone. And many modern synthetic materials have been developed and become popular in their own right. But natural wooden floors are still regarded as a prestige option for several reasons.
Apperance
Natural timber has woodgrain that many people find attractive. Woodgrain is a mixure of randomness and order, not so random as to be messy, not so ordered as to be sterile. Timber woodgrain is so attractive that many cheaper floor options replicate the woodgrain pattern.
Durability
Natural wood lasts for decades. Many houses that are a century or more old still have their original timber floors. The wood will survive any reasonable conditions.
Versitility
Wood can be stained many different colours, from natural looking to highly unusual. They can also be limewashed to have a chalky apperance. So timber floors can be altered to suit anything from classic Victorian to modernist decors.
Easy cleaning. Low Allergy
A timber floor can be swept clean or vacuumed with a soft brush attachment. There is no need for deep cleaning, no space for dust or allergens to hide.
Restore the Finish
Unlike almost any other type of floor a solid timber floor can be resanded to restore its appearnce. Resanding removes a small amount of the top layer of a wooden surface, so new fresh wood is exposed. This removes scratches and dents and perhaps some stains. It effectively gives you a new floor.
